How to register for NISM

Seven steps to exam day.

You book NISM exams yourself on the NISM certification portal. It takes about 20 minutes if your documents are ready. Here is the whole flow, in order.

  1. Create your NISM account

On certifications.nism.ac.in choose Register. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your PAN, your email and mobile number, then verify the email OTP.

  2. Complete your profile

Add your PAN, date of birth, address and a passport-size photo. The name must match your PAN exactly, because it prints on your certificate and AMFI checks it later.

  3. Pick the examination

Go to Enrol and select the series: V-A for mutual fund distribution and the ARN, V-D for SIF distribution, XIII for derivatives, XXI-A for PMS. Pay the fee to NISM online.

  4. Choose centre, date and slot

Test centres run on most days. Pick a slot at least a week away, so your last week can be mocks and revision. Set the same date in the FundsSchool app and your plan adjusts to it.

  5. Download the admit card

Under My Enrolments, download the admit card PDF. Print it and carry it with your original PAN card (or Aadhaar or passport) on the day.

  6. Exam day

Reach 45 minutes early. The test is online at the centre. Your result shows on screen when you submit, and the certificate PDF appears in your NISM account within days.

  7. After you pass

For mutual fund distribution, complete KYD and apply for your ARN on the AMFI portal, then get your EUIN. Our “After you pass” guide walks through each step.

Before you start
  • PAN card (your name on NISM must match it exactly)
  • A recent passport-size photo as a JPG
  • An email address you check, and a mobile for OTPs
  • A debit card, net banking or UPI to pay NISM
  • Your preferred city for the test centre
On exam day
  • Printed admit card
  • Original photo ID: PAN, Aadhaar or passport
  • Arrive 45 minutes before your slot
  • Leave phones and bags where the centre tells you
  • Read each question twice; flag and return to the hard ones
Didn’t pass? You can enrol again and pay the fee again. Note the units where you lost marks, rework those chapters, and take a fresh mock before you rebook.
