WhatsApp and social media that build trust
How to use the channels your clients already live on, without spamming or breaking rules.
Your clients spend hours a day on WhatsApp, Instagram and LinkedIn. Used well, these channels let you stay useful without being intrusive. Used badly, they make you the person everyone mutes.
WhatsApp: one-to-one first
- Use WhatsApp Business with your name, “AMFI Registered Mutual Fund Distributor (ARN-xxxx)” and working hours on the profile. Show the same line on every social profile's home page.
- Message individuals, not groups you were added to for other reasons. Never add people to a broadcast list or group without asking.
- Use a broadcast list only for people who said yes to updates, and make it easy to leave.
- Send at sensible hours. Nobody wants a SIP explainer at 11 pm.
LinkedIn and Instagram: teach in public
Post short explainers for your niche: how a SIP date works, what the riskometer means, why an emergency fund comes first. Start each post with your name and “AMFI Registered Mutual Fund Distributor (ARN-xxxx)”, keep to one clear idea and a simple visual, and add the risk disclaimer. Over months, this becomes your credibility: people meet you already knowing you explain things well.
Privacy is part of trust
Never post client names, amounts, folio screenshots or statements, even blurred, even with a happy client's casual permission. If you want to share a story, change the details enough that nobody can recognise the person, and get clear consent for anything recognisable.
Remember
- Set up WhatsApp Business with your distributor title, ARN and hours.
- Message individuals; use broadcast lists only with consent and an easy way out.
- Teach one idea per post, starting with your name and “AMFI Registered Mutual Fund Distributor (ARN-xxxx)” and carrying the risk disclaimer.
- Never post client details or screenshots, and never forward tips.
